Next Meeting

After the Book Launch (see below) The next Meeting/ Social event will be on Wednesday 8th June 2022 at 11:00am at the Bethel Church.

POST MEETING: It was a great turn out at our monthly meeting, with lots of familiar faces, as well as some new ones. There was tea and coffee provided for members, as well as non-members that was interested in finding out about what we do at the Bridgtown History Society, what’s going on and how we support our local area.

A skeleton Calendar has been added in the Events section and will be updated as we book the Events.

NEW BOOK LAUNCH

SATURDAY 28th MAY 2022 at BETHEL CHURCH, UNION STREET, BRIDGTOWN COMMENCING AT 11.00am

Volume 6 – BRAG and all that. Launch of the next volume of the “The Definitive Bridgtown History”.

It covers the year’s 1960 onwards and concentrates on the “Bridgtown Resident’s Action Group” who fought for keeping the village as a residential area when the powers that be wanted to turn it into a huge industrial Estate.

DAVID FOUGHT GOLIATH —-AND WON!!

AUTHOR AND CO-CHAIRMAN JOHN DEVEY WILL BE SIGNING BOOKS AT THE LAUNCH.
The launch will include a display of memorabila from BRAG and other items from our archives. We will also be explaining the role of the society and how we intend to go forward. Looking forward to seeing you there.
