Re-Awakening after Pandemic

We are happy to announce that the Bridgtown & District Local History Society has been released from lockdown.

The Team met on Wednesday 16th June 2021 for the first time since February 2020 at the Bethel and we have a lot of work to do to get things back to being a Society again.

Technically, we do not have a Committee, however, the Team members agreed to carry out their roles on the team until an AGM can be arranged to formally elect the Committee.

As Member Secretary, I shall be sending out emails & letters explaining the membership as we envisage it until the AGM. The emails will include a questionnaire which will be required to update our database. Please fill in only those items you want to.

Membership will be as before: One household membership . However, there will be an interim membership until we can re-order the fees. Household membership will be a choice of : £7.00 until December 31st 2021 or £12.00 until 31st December 2022.

Fees should be paid to Bob Brevitt and any questions please ring on 01922 411942. More to follow on fees after next team meet.

Looking to the future: There are various subjects on the Agenda. The “Blue Plaque” which is going onto the shop at the corner of North St. & Church St.

The next information board which is going to be at the entrance to the new housing site at Schraders in Walkmill.

Both of these projects are now ready for installation and we will be liaising with those organisations to arrange the openings.

The next History of Bridgtown Book has been published and will be on sale through Smiths Newsagents, Preece’s shop in North Street and Holly Bush Garden Centre or through any of the team members who will obtain and supply as requested.

We have another Team Meeting in the next week or so and anyone who wishes to help in some way is more than welcome.

  1. Hi could I ask if we could have an historic
Meeting at Vine Court Bridgtown I have several residents that have shown interest.
Perhaps in June or July preferably 2 or 3pm of an afternoon.
    We would supply refreshments.
